America spends 15% of GDP on healthcare yet has hundreds of millions of uninsured and under insured citizens. Taiwan implemented a national single-payer healthcare system in, 1995 that provides coverage to it's entire population for only 5% of GDP. Could this single payer success be replicated in the U.S.A?
We'll be joined by the Chief Financial Officer of Taiwan's Bureau National Health Insurance, Mr. Michael S. Chen, who will brief us on his countries move to single payer and answer your questions. We will also screen a one-hour documentary that contrasts America's market-based healthcare systems against several of the universal healthcare systems in use around the world, including Taiwan's single-payer system.
