The software industry is rapidly evolving from hosting your own software to relying on others to host it for you. Even if you choose to host your own software, the trend clearly points to a migration away from managing your own data centers to leveraging the explosive world of cloud hosting.
Dan Pritchett, CTO Rearden Commerce, will explore the evolution of software hosting, with a specific look to the future of what SaaS and the Cloud can bring to software. He will provide insights on:
• The evolution — mainframes, mini computers, distributed workstations to cloud
• Cloud vs. mainframes, why it really is different.
• Competitive advantages of SaaS for business
• Disadvantages and challenges of cloud computing
• Real-life tech challenges that are more readily solved in the cloud, including analytics, NLP and complex prediction models
Dan Pritchett brings more than 25 years of engineering experience, after working with some of the most well-known technology companies of our day. In his role as Chief Technology Officer, Dan is tasked with creating solutions for the unique set of challenges that go with scaling the Rearden Commerce platform to accommodate rapid growth. Previously Dan was a lead architect engineer at eBay. Due to the significant accomplishments he achieved, he was designated to become one of the seven Technical Fellows at eBay. Dan has been a featured speaker at InfoQ (2x), Colorado Software Summit (2x), Dr. Dobbs Software Conference, and local Java SIGs.
