“Fifth Sundays,” these multi-dimensional, multi-generational worship services often include elements of theatre, sacred dance, poetry and varied styles of music, including every genre from classical to hip-hop. According to Kesler, “our goal is to provide variety and to incorporate as many art forms as possible that proclaim the message of God’s love.”
On May 31, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., The South Church will present a Pentecost worship experience led entirely by its youth group, whose members range in age from 12 to 20. They will lead the congregation in prayer, perform a variety of vocal, guitar and piano music, and present an original play called “Honking Spirit,” that explores the way Spirit communicates with humankind.
All are welcome at The South Church, and especially on Fifth Sundays. “These special worship services are an excellent way to experience the creative energy and varied talents of the people at The South Church,” Kesler says.
