This Japanese cult film tells the story of a psychopathic blind sculptor and his obsession with the perfect female body in the name of art. Convinced that a new era of tactile-centric art is necessary, he abducts and holds captive a young fashion model in the hopes of convincing her to participate in his artistic dream - as a muse for his efforts to sculpt the perfect form. MASUMURA leads audiences down seemingly harmless philosophical corridors until we too are convinced of his mind-breaking conclusion. Set in a Dali-esque artist's studio covered in sculptures of giant eyeballs, over-sized limbs and assorted body parts, this inventive tale of madness and obsession powers to a climax where the abducted puts up a fight to survive against her captors, but gradually sinks into a world of unending sadism and masochism, taking the road of no return...
