The Canadian Centennial Choir with music director Marg Stubington present “Rule Britannia”. It is the people of Britain that have been the foundation of its greatness….from their stoic and humorous good-nature to their love of country life, their devotion to the church and of course their extraordinary musical heritage. Though mighty at sea, it is the gentleness of the ordinary folk at home that shines through. Marg Stubington’s innovative program captures the essence of a great country through the quintessentially British music of Benjamin Britten, John Rutter and Robert Lucas Pearsall. The choir will be accompanied by Teresa van den Boogard, organ; Aura Giles, flute and Nick Rodgerson, piano. The concert will take place at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 29 at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, 217, 1st Avenue. Tickets are $18 and $22 in advance, $20 and $25 at the door and are on sale at Leading Note (Elgin), CD Warehouse, Herb & Spice (Wellington) and Compact Music (Bank). For more information, call Veronica Verdicchio at (613) 792-3987 or visit the Choir's website at www.ccc-ccc.ca.
