The Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago will present 'The Edge of Intent,' an exhibition looking at the utopian aspirations of urban planners, and at how their idealistic visions sometimes become static and incapable of adapting to changing environments and systems. The photographs and mixed media projects in this exhibition explore the unobtainable, the neglected, and the aftermath of implemented plans and warn us of the hazards of "thinking big", while urging us to consider the centrality of dynamism in successful urban design. This exhibition is in conjunction with 'The Burnham Plan Centennial: Bold Plans. Big Dreams,' a citywide commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Daniel Burnham's and Edward Bennett's publication 'Plan of Chicago,' one of the world's first and most visible comprehensive regional plans.
