"A sterling blend of folk traditions, pop smarts, and modern rock flourishes." - Jeff Miers, The Buffalo News
Built upon booming acoustic guitars, rich harmonies and organic percussion, The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter, (Steve Roth and Meredith Brown), is a two-piece, alt-rock duet that is following closely in the footsteps of like-minded artists such as The Indigo Girls, The Wreckers, Alison Krauss and Robert Plant, and even the sound and passion of John and June Carter Cash.
"I love rock and roll with an acoustic, earthy edge, " says Roth. "I think we're no different than most people who like songs that evoke an emotion or memory; the type of music you sing along with when you're on a long car trip or the songs that show up in the most played list on your iPod."
Having garnered critical regional success including radio play, television appearances, music awards, and even opening up for 80's legend Brett Michaels, (Poison, VH1's Rock of Love), in their hometown of Buffalo, NY, Roth and Brown moved to Nashville in 2007 to step up their musical ambitions. With the help of Dove Award winning producer, Armand Petri, (whose production credits include The Goo Goo Dolls, Sixpence None the Richer, and 10,000 Maniacs), they released "If I Should Stumble" last fall. Songs from Roth's 2004 solo album, "beautiful addiction," continue to receive play on conventional and internet radio stations and has been featured on television, cable and internet programs.
