The Pope is coming to New York, and chaos reigns in this dark comedy by John Guare. Artie, a would-be songwriter turned zookeeper, decides the time is right to pursue his big career in earnest. His schizophrenic wife tells him it's hopeless. His mistress urges him to contact a Hollywood connection to bring him instant fame and fortune. Intertwined are wayward nuns, a foiled political bombing at Yankee Stadium, an AWOL from the army and a glamorous movie producer.
