The Voices of Masters - Assemble under the Five-Ring Flag will be held as a grand cultural event during the Olympics at the National Center for the Performing Arts on August 4th-5th.
Jose Carreras, Kiri Te Kanawa, Olga Borodina and Chinese celebrated tenor Dai Yuqiang and baritone Liao Changyong will highlight the event.
Josep Carreras i Coll (born December 5, 1946, Barcelona, Spain),better known as José Carreras, is a Spanish tenor. One of the mostprominent opera singers of his generation, and particularly eminent inthe operas of Verdi and Puccini, his career has encompassed over 60roles on stage and in the recording studio. He gained fame with a wideraudience as one of The Three Tenors along with Plácido Domingo andLuciano Pavarotti.
Dame Kiri Janette Te Kanawais one of the world's most celebrated sopranos. In 1981, she was seenand heard around the world by an estimated 600 million people when shesang Handel's "Let the Bright Seraphim" at the wedding of Charles,Prince of Wales, and Lady Diana Spencer.
Olga Borodinais a leading dramatic mezzo-soprano, known for her roles in Russianoperas at her home company, the Mariinsky Theatre, and for herinternational performing and recording career in a varied repertoire.Borodina made her debut in Samson and Delilah at the Royal Opera HouseCovent Garden with Placido Domingo. She performs frequently at theMetropolitan Opera and the San Francisco Opera and many other operahouses in roles including La Cenerentola,Marguérite in La damnation de Faust, Eboli in Don Carlos, Principessain Adriana Lecouvreur, Carmen, Marfa in Khovanshchina and Amneris inAida. Borodina is known for her "plush" voice.
