The Northern Virginia Irish Session is a place for beginner and intermediate players to build the repertoire and skills they need to start participating in traditional pub sessions. Beginners, musicians who are coming to Irish music from other genres, and people who are simply shy or overwhelmed by more advanced sessions are invited to attend. During the first hour of the session, you will generally play tunes from the session playlist. In the second hour, the group will go around the circle and let people choose tunes to play. In general, the Auld Shebeen session is for intermediate players, but on the third Saturday of the month, a special effort is made to accommodate beginners. Playing from sheet music is not allowed at the Auld Shebeen sessions.
