Biography
During the past 4 years The Rest of Us have created a unique sound with strong hooks and passionate, thought provoking lyrics that both indie rockers and top 40 junkies can agree on. Audiences from 15 to 40 have found themselves taken in by the energy and musical landscape of their live performances. As a whole, the band sites groups such as U2, Goo Goo Dolls, Live, and Matchbox 20 as influences on their collective writing.
From their start in 2000 the band played sparingly without clear direction. During this time they experimented and worked to refine their sound as they figured out where they were headed. As of January 2004, The Rest of Us is taking steps to see their work branch onto the Midwest scene. It is their hope that they will catch the attention of live music fans and industry reps as they continue to expand.
They have played many venues including Amercia?s Pub (Kansas City, Mo club wars), Rusty?s (Aggiville Manhattan, Ks), Carnigie Café (St. Louis, Mo), Big Cool Daddy?s (Muskogee, Ok), and The BottleNeck (Lawrence, Ks open mic). They have also been featured on 3 University campuses: Washburn (Topeka, Ks Battle of the Bands), K-State (Manhattan, Ks), Ft. Hays State (Hays, Ks Battle of the Bands). They have also opened for national performing acts: Dixie Road, Disciple, and The Mighty Shu?bee and the Zydeco Blues Band. Their long-term plan is to build a strong regional following and head out on the road full time during the summer of 2006.
