Science for the Public presents: Dr Paul Hall of the Dept of Earth Sciences, Boston Univ, will describe how the theory of plate tectonics has revolutionized our understanding of the Earth by revealing the complex relationship between processes in the Earth's deep interior (the mantle) and phenomena at its surface, such as volcanoes and earthquakes. Dr. Hall explains what Earth scientists now know –and what they are still learning- about the links between convection in Earth's interior, plate tectonics, and environmental conditions at Earth's surface.
