Beacon Hospice Hosts The Secret Club Project:

Event Description: Although 900,000 miscarriages occur in the United States each year, pregnancy loss remains a surprisingly taboo topic. The Secret Club Project breaks the silence by exhibiting plaques showing these powerful works of art by individuals from around the country who have experienced pregnancy loss first hand. Their words and images provide a glimpse into the hidden dimensions of infertility, pregnancy loss and stillbirth. This award-winning project has 45 participating artists and features a traveling exhibition, lecture series, and website (www.secretclubproject.org).

Accompanying the exhibit, Laura Seftel, the Founding Director of the project and author of the book Grief Unseen: Healing Pregnancy Loss Through the Arts, will present a narrated slide talk on the emotional impact of pregnancy loss and how families around the world use the creative process to find healing. A local grief and loss resource section will also be available and Laura Seftel’s book, Grief Unseen: Healing Pregnancy Loss Through the Arts will be available for purchase following the lecture.

Cost: Free and open to the public

Please RSVP by April 23 to Liz Mearkle, Bereavement Coordinator of Beacon Hospice Inc. Harbors of Hope Bereavement Program at 508-324-1900.

Sponsors & Hosts: The exhibit and lecture are sponsored by Beacon Hospice Inc. and hosted by Women and Infants Hospital with the support of Miscarriage Infant Death & Stillbirth Group (M.I.S.). & Pregnancy After Loss Support (P.A.L.S).

Respectfully, no children please!
