The Black Hills State University Theatre Department will present the holiday classic Babes in Toyland, Dec. 2-5 in the Woodburn Theatre.
In this charming, humorous musical Mother Goose Land is all astir over the rivalry between miserly mean-hearted Uncle Barnaby and the young handsome, gentle Alan for the love of Mistress Quite Contrary. Getting into the act are Jack and Jill, Little Bo Peep and many other Mother Goose favorites along with Barnaby's clownish sidekicks Roderigo and Gonzorgo. Trying to escape, Mary and Alan pass through the dangerous spider's forest finally arriving in the colorful, chaotic action filled Toyland. This musical is filled with memorable tunes such as "Toyland" “I Can’t Do the Sum" and "The March of the Toy Soldiers.”
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 2-4 and at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 in the historic Woodburn Theatre. General admission tickets are $7 and for students and seniors tickets are $5.
