Modern architectural style of the twentieth century, forming an arc expresses the gateway to the Peruvian Amazon, palm trees and surrounded by breathtaking aguĆjales.
Iglesia Santa Teresita del Nino Jesus
It was founded in October 1944. Considered the oldest church in Tingo Maria. The church building was made possible by the efforts of the Franciscan priests Canadians. It currently has an adjoining convent and a school.
Cerro San Cristobal
Ideal place to contemplate in all its splendor and beauty of the figure of the sleeping beauty and appreciate the beautiful landscapes of the Amazon rainforest.
Tingo Maria National Park
Located in the province of Leoncio Prado, consists of tropical forests with caves and caverns. It was created to protect the Sleeping Beauty mountain and cave of the Owls with adjacent forests.
The flora is very diverse, offers visitors more than 100 species of orchids and variety of medicinal plants such as cat's claw and sangre de grado. There are also fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals such as jaguar, ocelot, the wildcat and the mountain tapir. Highlighted among the birds, the cock of the rocks, guacharos and the howler monkey, the latter unfortunately endangered. There are also species of butterflies and amphibians.
Within the park you can visit the falls of the QuinceaƱera, Gloriapata and in the buffer zone of Jacintillo sulphurous waters.
Owl Cave
This is the main opening of a complex underground system of caverns inside the mountain. It is approximately 30 m. height of 80 m. still wide and its depth is not known exactly. The cave houses an important colony of birds known as guacharos or Santana (like owls) as well as parrots, swallows and bats.
Cave Pavas
At the end of a deep, narrow ravine where a stream of fresh waters and beaches and pools is surrounded by vegetation. In one of the pools can be seen a natural formation resembling the figure of a woman who is called locally the Goddess of Water.
