Late March is a great time to explore the protected coves, ponds, beaches, and thickets of Cape Ann. Wintering species still linger, giving us the opportunity to view loons, grebes, alcids, ducks and landbirds in relative warmth. Possibilities include all three scoters, King Eider, Harlequin Duck, Black Guillemot, loons, grebes, Purple Sandpiper, Snow Bunting, Horned Lark, and Lapland Longspur. In addition, spring migrants are beginning to arrive. We will take plenty of time at each stop, giving everyone a chance to view the birds well and practice interactive field identification. This is a great opportunity to enjoy wintering species while getting ready for the excitement of spring songbird migration. - - Whether you are just getting started observing birds, or you have been birding awhile but would like to develop your expertise, these programs are for you.
