Volunteers will replace much of the City Hall lawn with food crops and native plants. Participants will learn about the theory and technique of sheet mulching, how to set up a system to catch and recycle rainwater, and how to create healthy soil. The Petaluma workday is taking place in conjunction with the annual Make A Difference Day, in which an estimated 3 million people nationwide will do service projects in their communities. October 24 is also the 350.org International Day of Climate Action, and a worldwide network of groups will be holding events to raise awareness of climate change. Register at www.rtpetaluma.org
