201 Fairmount Ouest
Montreal, Québec

Vallum: contemporary poetry will host an intimate poetry reading Saturday, July 26th, under the banner “Cafe/Culture.” The event, which Vallum hopes will be the first of many such readings, will begin at 7:00pm at the Arts Cafe on 201 Fairmount West. Featured readers include, Ilona Martonfi, a poet, creative writing teacher, editor, and producer of the Poetry and Prose Readings at The Yellow Door and the Visual Arts Centre, Drew McKevitt, poet and circulation manager, and Danielle Lafrance, poet, prose writer and feminist essayist, reading original works, as well as the musical talents of Jesika Starnino.
Time permitting, there will be an open mic at the end of the program.

The event is sponsored by Vallum Society for Arts and Letter Education, a charitable organization that oversees Vallum magazine, the Vallum Chapbook Series and promotes literacy and arts appreciation in Montreal schools. In an effort to bring contemporary poetry to a new crowd, the event will be held in Mile End and admission will be free.

There will be contests! And prizes!
