The Venture Award celebrates its 2012 shortlist, with a selection of readings from shortlisted poets, Rowyda Amin, Cath Drake, Doreen Hinchliffe, Russell Jones, Andrew Martin and Sarah B Westcott, as well as a guest reading by Warsan Shire, from her new pamphlet, 'teaching my mother how to give birth'. At the end of the evening, the top two poets from the shortlist will be announced, and the prize will be awarded at the London Book Fair on April 17, 2012. The reading is in Bethnal Green (Oxford House) and ALL ticket holders will be entitled to a FREE book on the night.

About the Venture Award:
The Venture Award – named in memory of Wilfred Alfred Venture, a descendant of composer, actor and writer Ignatius Sancho, and influential mentor in his lifetime – was launched in the run-up to flipped eye publishing’s tenth anniversary to recognise an outstanding submission of fifteen pages of poetry with publication and a cash prize.
