Visions d'Amour: 10 Ballets in Paris, is Ballet Fantastique’s opening concert of the 2009-2010 season. The exquisite mixed-repertory tour of France as envisioned by Artistic Director Donna Marisa Bontrager offers arts lovers an intoxicating escape to-and a dramatic taste of- Paris, from operatic drama to the flair of the Moulin Rouge cabaret.
The production’s most anticipated new ballet is the world premiere of Eugene composer Jeremy Schropp’s “Night at the Café Terrace,” which brings Van Gogh’s painting (re-interpreted by Northwest painter Rob Adams and projected behind the dancers to set the scene) to playful life with a cast of 11 dancers and a live orchestra of 25 musicians.
After the concert, a select group of ticketholders will attend the Starry Night benefit reception. All gala proceeds benefit the critically-acclaimed Ballet Fantastique chamber company and its ambitious projects to bring vibrant classical ballet to all sectors of our community, through innovative in-school, in-theater, and in-studio outreach and professional concerts.
