Are you going to be in Boston for Easter? Would you like to spend one day doing something for someone else? Volunteer with Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly! Volunteers are ordinary people with extraordinary love and concern for others, contributing their time, talent and energy. Little Brothers is seeking volunteers to visit our elder friends throughout Boston to bring a home-cooked meal and flowers and spend time visiting with them.

Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly needs volunteers (individuals and groups) on Sunday March 23, 2008 to help us celebrate Easter by escorting elders to a PARTY at the Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly offices in JP. We will ALSO need Friendly Visiting volunteers to help distribute traditional meals from Northeastern University’s (NEU) Churchill Hall to DELIVER home cooked meals and happy cheer into peoples homes. (Green E Line @ Northeastern OR Ruggles on the Orange Line)

First opening its Boston doors in 1979, Little Brothers has a mission to relieve the isolation that is present in the lives of so many elders. With no family and inadequate social contacts, the elderly men and women who turn to Little Brothers benefit from regular contact with staff and volunteers, social activities, direct services, and holiday programs offering them year round programs to relieve isolation. Our elders are in the city of Boston, are 70 years and over, living at or below the poverty line and are without friends or families to celebrate the holidays with.

Our elders are over 70, very low-income, and are without friends or families to celebrate the holidays with. Little Brothers volunteers bring a home-cooked meals and flowers to elders and spend time visiting with them on the holiday. Most importantly, they bring companionship and caring.

If you would like to make a difference in one of our elder's lives, please contact us at 617-524-8882 or boston@littlebrothers.org

In order to be matched with an elder person, Little Brothers/Friends of the Elderly–Boston complies with state regulations that requests information from the Criminal History Systems Board pursuant to Chapter 6 §172C that mandates agencies which accept such individual as a volunteer.
