Natural disaster in all its' chaotic and horrific complexity is an endless source of commentary for Washington, D.C.-based artist Walter Kravitz. Rendered in pencil and paint, devoid of newfangled techniques or materials, these images have only the raw power of expression and Kravitz's virtuosity with a pencil to rely on. Akin to the paintings of the Spanish master Hieronymus Bosch, Kravitz's works draw the viewer into a world that is fascinating and compelling yet strange, surreal and disturbing as well.
