Hosted by the Hudson River Sampler's Wanda Fischer and Nick Barr, host of WAMC Bluegrass Time, this concert features an array of talented musical artists. Kate Taylor's roots run deep in the soul, gospel and rockabilly sounds of her southern upbringing and in the literate folk, pop and Appalachian stylings that comprise the balance of her family's musical legacy. Albany, New York's own Jim Gaudet is a captivating blend of folksinger and storyteller. With the help of The Railroad Boys (bassist/vocalist, Bob Ristau and mandolinist/guitarist, Sten Isachsen), Gaudet is anchoring his deft wordplay and savvy songcraft in the classic roots music that so thrilled him as a young man. Betty Boomer, Jean Valla McAvoy, Paul Rubeo, and Steve Stanne have have been singing together for twenty years under the name of Betty and the Baby Boomers, and are beloved for their engaging performances and "vocal talents clear as a Catskill Mountain stream.” Bates + Barr is a dynamic musical duo consisting of Bob Bates and Nick Barr. Their repertoire includes many Louvin Brothers tunes, as well as numerous tunes from the country and bluegrass libraries, and originals.
