The Box contemporary art gallery proudly presents We Live in Public, a solo show featuring the new works of artist Aaron Kraten. This collection of original works will open at the Costa Mesa gallery on Saturday July 17, 2010, from 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM. The exhibition will run through Friday, September 3, 2010.

Using a mixed media of finger paint, technological detritus, photographs and starkly alluring figures, Southern California artist Aaron Kraten manipulates brush and narrative to reveal his compelling social commentary. In his signature solo exhibition, We Live in Public, Kraten explores the disconcertingly ubiquitous, yet altogether enthralling elements of fashion and technology and their influence upon the individual. His faceless mixed media impastos belie Orwellian anonymity, while simultaneously evoking the breadth of emotion experienced by the isolated individual within a community. Line, color, and schemata merge in quiet confidence to reveal subjects that exist somewhere between the private intimacy of self-contemplation and the electric eye of some moonage daydream.
