Wicked Words and Witty Women March 11, 2009

Part of International Women's Day, Wicked Words and Witty Women is an evening of poetry, prose, performances, storytelling, open mic, workshops, stalls, competitions and publishers.

Come celebrate women’s literature and unleash your creativity!

Between poetry readings, stories and performances in Milgi’s enchanting yurt, there’ll be a chance to take part in some lively writing workshops hosted by Independent Welsh publisher, Leaf Books.

Including talented guests Susan Richardson, Emily Hinshelwood, Cath Little, Ivy Alvarez and Jo Verity, this night is a must for all word-lovers!

Norse, Icelandic, Greek and Welsh stories and retellings feature, as powerful heroines from ancient to recent writings are celebrated. With poems, stories, novel readings and an animation, this night has something for everyone.

Inspired to read your work? If you’re a keen writer and would like to test out your poetry on a new audience, there’ll be a few open mic slots, so step up and make your words heard.

Opportunities for writers and readers alike will also include publishers' book stalls, creative competitions, postcard wordplay and the Cardiff Feminist Book group -- not to be missed!
