Willow, Alaska: The Willow Dog Mushers Association will present their second annual K-9 Athlete Symposium at the Willow Community Center, in Willow, Alaska, on Saturday, September 19 through Sunday, September 20, 2009. This year's events include a K-9 Athlete Symposium, with Keynote Speaker and legendary musher George Attla; and a Structure in Action Workshop with renowned canine educator Pat Hastings and Willow veterinarian Susan Whiton, DVM.
This two day Symposium offers multiple programs to educate, inspire, and inform attendees about various aspects of working with dogs, including Dog Lot Hints and Tricks. with Lynda Barcome, MUSH with Pride Representative, Iditarod champion Martin Buser and local sprint musher John Wood; Agility tips, tricks and demos by Jill Bisignani and The Better Companion Team; Freighting with Dogs, by Joe Henderson; Canine Acupressure by Susan Whiton; and a panel made up of George Attla, Joe May, JP Norris, Bill Sturdvent discussing "The Good Ole Days," moderated by veteran Iditarod musher Vern Halter. The weekend's events will also include a gear swap, vendor fair, hands-on seminars, and a fundraising dinner with a silent auction and a film.
