Continuing its tradition of performing major choral works by J. S. Bach, the Wisconsin Chamber Choir is proud to announce its forthcoming performance of Bach’s St. John Passion on Friday, April 2 at 8:00 pm in the Atrium Auditorium of Madison’s First Unitarian Society. Tickets are $20 (students $10) in advance and $25 ($15) at the door. Advance tickets are available from www.wisconsinchamberchoir.org. as well as Little Luxuries, Orange Tree Imports and Ward Brodt Music.
A stellar cast of soloists, representing the very best singers in the region, will include James Doing singing the role of the Evangelist,
Paul Rowe as Jesus, Bill Rosholt as Pilate, Julie Hutchinson (soprano arias), Julie Cross (alto arias), Ryan McEldowney (tenor arias), and Brian Leeper (bass arias).
The WCC’s April 2 concert will be Wisconsin’s first performance of the St. John Passion using Bach’s original instrumentation.
At 7:00 pm on the night of the performance, Madison historian John W. Barker will present a pre-concert lecture illuminating the background and structure of the St. John Passion.
